Leadership Assessment
General Structure
Worksheet

This assessment is designed to highlight your positive traits as a leader. Questions and anecdotes are all framed in the positive and on the number of times you displayed these leadership behaviors. So the assessment is based on how often you display a particular leadership behavior not on how well you do it.

The assessment looks at the Nine Leadership Behaviors listed below and at your communication abilities. We believe these behaviors are essential to developing exceptional leadership, to increasing productivity and innovation.

Motivating Others through Adaptive Leadership

Empowering Others through IVAN
Vision/Mission

Eight of the leadership behaviors, as well as the Communication section, include actual comments of those who fill out the assessment AND a series of questions that are scored on frequency of this behavior. The last behavior, Stretching Personal Creativity, includes comments only.

Interpreting Frequency

Results were compiled in random order. The scores add up all the answers given from the ranking of five others to whom you gave the report. They then take the average of the scores that any additional people, above these five, gave you. (If one of your numbers is italicized, it's a made-up average number in order to score the items.)

Results of Two Point Higher. (You rate yourself at 3 and others gave you a 5.) You need to look in more detail at why you under-rated yourself. You might be underestimating your own worth or focusing on the imperfections rather than positive results.

Results of Two Points Lower. (You rate yourself at 5 but others rate you at 3.) You are overestimating your actions and behavior while the group sees you differently.

The major value of this assessment is the trends. Do some areas standout as real pluses upon which you can build? Do some areas seem to warrant attention and development? The following questions will help you look more in-depth at the assessment.
